Who are we…..
Barefoot Explorers was established in 2023 by two early primary educators, looking to enhance the experience of young children within the regional Pilbara area of Karratha.
Barefoot Explorers was created with the intention of providing children with a safe, supportive and stimulating play experience to help nurture their curiosity, imagination, and wonder.
Hi, we are Hannah and Hayley and we are the founders of Barefoot Explorers. We are both qualified primary/early childhood teachers with a passion for play based learning, nature play and sensory engagement. We are both mothers to 5 beautiful children, all under 6 years old, and have a collective 20years experience working with children.
Shortly after beginning our journey into motherhood, and raising small children in the city of Karratha, we became increasingly aware of the lack of play-based sensory experiences available to our wider community. After numerous play dates, park sessions and midnight emails…… the idea for Barefoot Explorers Play Sessions was finally born!
Hannah: is a mum to 2 young boys, has a Bachelor in Early Childhood Education and her Working With Children Check, and has lived in Karratha for almost 8 years. She loves to support her own children and to take ownership of their play and engage with open ended materials.
Hayley: is a mum of 3 young children, has a Diploma in children services and a Bachelor Degree in Teaching/Primary Education, as well as her Working with Children’s check, First Aid and CRP. She has lived in Karratha for 14 years and has a passion for engaging hands-on investigative play which creates excitement and curiosity.
At Barefoot Explorers we believe that open ended play is crucial for children’s development and it is how they make sense of the world around them. We are passionate about supporting all children in their growth through play, and providing them with the opportunities to explore, learn, investigate at their own pace and in a safe comfortable environment. Our sessions and events are created with love and are embedded with research and knowledge to bring joy, curiosity, imagination and wonder to a child’s day.
